The game is played on a 15 x 15 board. The first player places a cross piece on an empty cell by turn, the second player places a null. The one who place five pieces in a row (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) first wins.

Shashki is played by two people, on opposite sides of a playing board, alternating moves. One player has blue pieces, and the other has red pieces. The player who has no pieces left or cannot move anymore has lost the game.

In this game, the objective is for each player to be the first to complete a continuous line of five stones. The stones are represented as circles and crosses.
