Abraham Lincoln (1809 – 1865) was the 16th President of the United States. He led the country through its internal crisis, the American Civil War. He manage to preserve the Union and end slavery. As the war was close to the end, Lincoln became the first president to be assassinated. He had been a lawyer, a state legislator, a member of the House of Representatives. As an opponent of the expansion of slavery, he won the Republican Party nomination in 1860 and was elected president that year. He introduced measures for the abolition of slavery, and promoted the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. He supervised the victorious war effort, especially the selection of top generals. Under his leadership, the Union took control of the border slave states at the start of the war. Additionally, he managed his own reelection in the 1864 presidential election. This screensaver is free, and contains no spyware or virus. It was fully tested by our team before making it available.
