Born on June 1, 1973, in Bergische Gladbach, Germany, Heidi Klum began her modelling career in 1992 when she won a modelling competition. In 1993 Klum moved to New York and began appearing in ads including work for Bonne Bell, Finesse, Gerry Weber, Givenchy's Amarige, and INC. Klum founded Heidi Klum GmbH in 1996 and in 1997 Klum participated in her first runway show, in Victoria's Secret. By this time Klum had been in most fashion magazines including Vogue Magazine, ELLE and Marie Claire as well as covers for Bride's, Cosmopolitan, Self, Glamour, and Mademoiselle, Klum s big magazine was the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1998. In 2000 Klum launched her own successful swimsuit calendar; she has also started her own fashion lines including clothing, swimsuit, perfume, jewellery, and shoes.
